Overview
Bulong (Filipino for "whisper") is a personal project: an interactive map where you can anonymously share the things you have been holding back, pinned to the exact place where they happened. A first date, a goodbye at a station, a thank-you that never got said. I built it as a safe, real-time space for all our unsaid stories.
The idea
Some words only make sense in the place they belong to. Bulong turns the map into a quiet wall of those moments: every glowing pin is a whisper someone left behind, and anyone passing by can read it, feel it, and answer, without ever knowing who wrote it.

How it works
Whisper at my location: write a short message and drop it where you are standing, with no account or name attached
Explore: scan the area around you to find nearby whispers, listed by distance within a small radius
Join the conversation: each whisper has its own page with anonymous replies, a resonate count, sharing and a report option
Dark and light map themes, so the map stays easy on the eyes at night
Explore mode lists the whispers around you and how far away each one was left.

Keeping it safe
Anonymity only works if the space stays kind. Posting needs no sign-up, but replies are rate-limited per person and capped in length, and any whisper can be reported for review. That keeps conversations gentle and makes spam and abuse expensive.

How it is built
Bulong is a Next.js app served through Cloudflare. Whispers, replies and reactions live in a Supabase Postgres database accessed through Prisma, and Pusher pushes new whispers and replies to everyone viewing the map in real time, so pins and conversations appear without a refresh.
Status
Bulong is archived for now, and I plan to open it again soon.
